PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that in pursuance of Section 79 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” the foregoing estimates have been prepared and have been approved by. the Invercargill Borough Council as an estimate of the proposed expenditure of the Council for the period commencing on the Ist day of April, 1927, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1928, showing the sums estimated to be available and the additional sum required. AND PUBLIC NOTICE is also given that after the expiration of fourteen days from the publication of this notice the Invercargill Borough Council intends to make and levy the rates and fees hereunder specified; each of the said rates and fees to be for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1927, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1928, and to be payable in one sum on the 16th day of August, 1927. AND THAT the Valuation Roll is now open for inspection at the offices of the Council during office hours. These notices are given in accordance with Section 79 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and Section 54 of “The Rating Act, 1925.” Pursuant to Section 77, of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920.” A GENERAL RATE of fourpenee and decimal nought six eight (4.068) of a penny in the £ on the unimproved value of all rateable property of the Borough of Invercargill. Purusant to Section 50 of “The Hospital and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926.” A SEPARATE RATE for Hospital and Charitable Aid purposes of three pence and decimal four five nought (3.450) of a penny in the pound upon the annual rateable value of all the rateable property of the Borough of Invercargill; Pursuant to Section 84 of “The Municipal Coroporations Act, 1920,” and “The Rating Act, 1925,” WATER RATES in respect of ordinary supply: 1. Upon all lands and buildings to which water is supplied a rate of one penny and decimal nought five nought (1.050) of a penny in the pound on the unimproved value of all rateable property of the Borough of Invercargill. The minimum rate to be ten shillings. 2. Upon all lands and buildings to which water can be, but is not supplied, situated within one hundred yards from any part of the Waterkorks, a rate of one half of the rates mentioned in paragraph 1 hereof. Minimum rate five shillings. 3. Upon all lands with buildings thereon 'used as stores or warehouses or for any purpose other than as dwelling houses, a rate of one-half of the rate mentioned in

paragraph 1 hereof. Minimum rate five shillings. Pursuant to and in exercise of the powers vested in it in t|iat behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” and Section 140 of “The Health Act,1920,” and in order to meet the expenses incurred in carrying out the provisions of “The Health Act, 1920,” in respect of the maintenance and working of the sewers and sanitary drains and sanitary works within the Borough of Invercargill. A SEPARATE RATE of decimal eight two nought (.820) of a penny in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Invercargill. Pursuant to Section 88 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” A STREET LIGHTING RATE of decimal four four two (.442) of a penny in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Invercargill. FEES FOR CLEANSING CLOSETS AND FOR REMOVING RUBBISH. Pursuant to and in exercise of the powers vested in it by Section 89 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920” (the Council itself undertaking the removal of refuse, and the cleansing of closets not connected with any public drain and not having made or levied any separate rate in respect thereof) for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1927, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1928, an uniform annual fee of 32/6 for the daily removal of refuse in respect of each property and a uniform annual fee of 7/6 for the weekly removal of refuse in respect to each property; AND ALSO a uniform annual fee of 25/- in areas which have not been declared by resolution to be sewered areas and 35/- per pan in areas which have been declared by resolution to be sewered areas, for each pan for a fortnightly service for the cleansing of closets which are not connected with any public drain, such fees to be payable as a rate on the 16th day of August, 1927. Pursuant to and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by “The Municipal Corporations Act. 1920,” and “The Invercargill Borough Council’s Special Rate Empowering Act, 1918,” and “The Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1926,” and for the purpose of providing the interest and sinking funds and other charges on all loans mentioned in the schedule for the year commencing on the Ist day of April, 1927, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1928. A SPECIAL RATE of five pence and decimal nought five nought (5.050) of a penny in the pound upon the unimproved value of all rateable property within the area comprising the whole of the Borough of Invercargill. Pursuant to and in exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by Section 95 of “The Municipal Corporations Act, 1920,” it is intended that the General Rate (4.068), Special Rate 5.050), and Street Lighting Rate (.442), as aforesaid, shall be a Consolidated rate of nine pence and decimal five six nought (9.560) of a penny in the pound on the unimproved value of all the rateable property of the Borough of Invercargill. As authorised by Section 3 of “The Rating Amendment Act, 1922,’ a rebate of 2A per centum (six pence in the pound) will be allowed off all rates and fees paid on or before Thursday, the 15th day of September 1927.
