MEDAL MATCH AT OTATAi.... The large field which set out at Otatara on Saturday to contest the stroke handicap found conditions awaiting them which called for particular care in the playing of the strokes, this being especially the case in the vicinity of the putting greens. Owing to the frozen surfaces anything in the nature of a lobbed ball on to the green met a disastrous fate, the run-up shot being the only one practicable under the circumstances. In spite of the conditions, some particularly good cards were returned, especially in the junior division, no fewer thaQ six players finishing with nett scores below bogey. The scores were as follows:

LADIES’ MATCH. QUEEN’S PARK v. RIVERTON. Thirteen members of the Queen’s Park Ladies’ Club journeyed to Riverton on Saturday and played a match over 18 holes. Of the total games played Queen’s Park won eight and Riverton five. The results were as follows (Queen’s Park players being mentioned first) : Miss McLauchlin lost to Miss Berndtson; Miss Campbell lost to Miss Southberg; Mrs Israel beat Mrs Jordan; Miss Stout lost to Miss Guest; Mrs Georgeson lost to Mrs Gordon; Mrs Fordyce beat Mrs A. E. Willett; Mrs J. W. Willett lost to Miss Hunter; Mrs Tait beat Mrs Griffiths; Mrs R. Scott beat Mrs C. de Clifford; Mrs Palmer beat Miss Swan; Miss D. Stout beat Miss Price; Miss J. Gilkison beat Mrs Guest; Mrs J. Wilson beat Miss Petchell. QUEEN’S PARK LADIES’ CLUB. DRAW FOR L.G.U. MATCH. Following is the draw for the L.G.U. match to be played on the Park to-day:— Miss Oughton v. Mrs Chartres; Mrs Georgeson v. Mrs Clow; Mrs Fordyce v. Miss Hughes; Mrs Willett v. Mrs Tait; Mrs Palmer v. Miss D. Stout; Mrs Scott v. Mrs Wilson; Mrs Macfarlane v. Miss J. Gilkison; Mrs Miller v. Miss Pilcher; Mrs Smith v. Mrs McCallum; Mrs Ritchie v. Miss M. Stout; Miss McCallum v. Mrs Holder; Mrs Stalker v. Miss Roscoe; Mrs Peters v. Miss Hannan; Mrs Nicholson v. Mrs Johnson; Mrs Hamilton v. Mrs McHugh; Mrs Broad v. Mrs J. Johnstone. Reputation and unexcelled playing qualities are reasons why SPALDING GOLF BALLS figure in more major events in one year than any other make. For quick and easy recognition during play, the name “Spalding” is in four colours in each box of twelve balls —red, blue, purple, green—three balks in each colour. British-made — used the world over.— (Advt.)
