SCRUB BULLS

PROPOSAL BEFORE DAIRY BREEDERS. (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, June 15. At a meeting of the Dairy Breeders’ Federation held this morning, a sub-committee brought down a scheme regarding the method of ultimately eliminating the scrub bull. The proposal was based on the South Australian Dairy Cattle Improvement Act, which recommended the registration of every bull each year, fees and penalties to be paid into a fund on which a subsidy would be paid to the purchaser of the bull reaching a certain standard in regard to the production of butter-fat. After a discussion the question was held in abeyance pending Mr Singleton, director of the Dairy Division, obtaining legal opinion in regard to the position.
