STATEMENT BY HERR STRESEMANN. Geneva, June 14. Giving an audience to foreign journalists Dr. Stresemann disclosed that all the Foreign Ministers were at present in Geneva, and had privately discussed European problems including relations with the Soviet. He said: “There is no question of an anti-Soviet crusade, but the Third International must not interfere with the internal political arrangements of other countries. The Foreign Ministers were favourable to amicable relations with the Soviet, but the Home Ministers were naturally anxious for public order in their own nations.”—A. and N.Z. MAINTAINING THE LOCARNO SPIRIT. Geneva, June 14.* What is described as a Locarno meeting took place between M. Briand, Sir Austen Chamberlain, M. Van der Velde, Herr Stresemann, Signor Scialoja and Mr Ishii, as the result of the German delegation appealing for the maintenance of the Locarno spirit in all matters of importance. After a two-hours’ conference the Ministers refused to make a statement to the Press, but the communique issued stated that the conversations will be continued tomorrow.—A. and N.Z. DIPLOMATIC CONFERENCE / DECIDED ON. (Rec. 7.15 p.m.) London, June 15. The Exchange Agency’s Geneva correspondent says that the Council on the recommendation of Herr Seresemann, decided to convoke an international diplomatic conference on October 17, for the purpose of launching an international convention to consider the abolition of import and export restrictions, as recommended by the Economic Conference.—A. and N.Z.
