ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
BOY FATALLY INJURED. (Per United Press Association.) Waimate, June 13. Thomas Kinsman, aged ten years, of Douglas Settlement, was killed through a horse which he was riding slipping on a greasy face and bolting, dragging the boy some distance. He died a few minutes after. FOOTBALLER INJURED. Dunedin, June 13. In the Pirates v. Southern Rugby match on Saturday, Dennis Wise, of Pirates, the Otago and New Zealand wing-threequarter, sustained head injuries necessitating his being sent to hospital. MOTOR FATALITY. Taihape, June 13. Leo McSweeney, accompanied by John Roy Mills, was returning home in a motor car when the car ran off the road at a bend, turning a somersault and pinning both of the occupants to the ground. McSweeney extricated himself but being unable to free Mills went for assistance five miles away and returning found Mills suffocated with the weight of the car on his back, quite dead. Mills was 27 years of age and had been married only a few weeks ago. The inquest was adjourned on the application of the police for further evidence.
