BURGLARS BUSY

SHOP BROKEN INTO. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 13. Thieves broke into Mr G. W. Smith’s store in Opawa road last night and stole a quantity of shirts, collars, rugs, socks and cigarettes. It was a stormy night and the thief was undisturbed. An attempt to force the lock with a jemmy failed, and the robber then used the jemmy to smash a glass panel by the door, by which entrance was made. No cash was left in the shop by the owner who has had previous experience of burglaries. Just a year ago thieves broke into his residence and stole between £3O and £4O.
