NARROW ESCAPE

BUILDING ABLAZE. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, June 13. Fighting their way through the fog of blinding smoke while burning timbers crackled and fell about them, Malcolm Anderson, his wife and three children escaped certain death in their beds when fire destroyed their home early this morning, for the second time in sixteen months. The house, which was situated on Lincoln Road, was behind one of two shops, which are now all in ashes. Neighbours had to come to the family’s assistance as they escaped to the street clad only in their night attire.
