SUPER-POWER PLAN

VAST UNITED STATES SCHEME. LINKING WHOLE COUNTRY’S RESOURCES. (Rec. 11 p.m.) New York, June 11. Mr Hoover is supervising the formation of a super-power plan by which all the power units throughout the country will be connected by a vast trunk system. The proposed .connecting units would consist of main secondary lines controlled from a central point by which in case of necessity all the power resources of the United States could be diverted to any point immediately. The system is planned with reference to water power, coalfields and the existing high voltage transmission line at the centres of the principal power consumption of the trans continental railway. It is stated that under this system power now wasted will be utilised, involving a saving of millions annually. The sponsors are attempting to overcome some State legislation where the plan will not now be accepted.—A. and N.Z.
