FEDERATION CONFERENCE. REGULATION OF LOCAL SUPPLIES. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 10. The Fruitgrowers’ Federation Conference stressed the need for regulating supplies for the local fruit market. A remit advocating the adoption of the sticker system for growers marketing fruit for local sale was thrown out after some discussion, during which a speaker declared that the present voluntary system had failed and compulsory regulation was not acceptable.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE CONCLUDES. Wellington, June 10. The Fruitgrowers’- Conference concluded to-day. It was decided that the orchard tax should be renewed, the minimum tax being fixed at 5/-. The conference decided to request the Minister to bring down a Bill embodying the revisions to the Control Act agreed upon at the last conference. A suggestion that the provinces submit proposals for the best way to advertise New Zealand fruit was favoured. The conference concluded with thanks to Mr H. E. Napier (manager of the federation) and his officers, to the director of the horticultural division (Mr J. A. Campbell) and his officers, and to Colonel Gray for the able manner he’ had represented the Federation in London. A special tribute was paid to Mr T. C. Brash, president of the conference.
