GLAND TREATMENT
EFFECT ON RACEHORSE. (Rec. 7 pan.) London, June 10. A three-year-old racehorse, Pentire, whose life was saved through a thyroid gland operation, won the Mark Price Handicap at Manchester. Mr. A. R. Cox, the wealthy owner of the horse concluded that Pentire was worthless and condemned the animal to be shot, but a veterinary surgeon, says the Daily Express begged that the colt be spared for gland treatment, although it looked hopeless. The owner consented, and the colt, from an undersized weed, developed so as to justify training, and accomplished an excellent performance under next to top weight.—A. and N.Z.
