The Surrey County Cricket Club made a nett profit on last year’s working of £2658. * * * * Seven-a-side Rugby, which was introduced in England last season, is proving very popular, and the tourney of the various clubs is now an annual institution. The world’s championship for professional ice hockey teams has been won by the Ottawa (Canada) Senators, who beat the Boston Bruins by three goals to one in the final game of the series. * * * * For the first time in Australia, a Soccer match was played under electric light at Port Kembla. Balgownlie opposed Port Kembla and Corrimal combined, the game, after exciting passages, being drawn at one goal all. * * * * A claim from Australia to have the Olympic Games for 1936 decided in the Commonwealth will be submitted to the International Olympic Federation, in accordance with the decision of a conference of delegates to the Australian Olympic Council. * * * 4 An International Sports Federation has been formed in connection with professional athletics in Great. Britain and Ireland. It will have affiliated to it athletic, whippet, trotting, racing and wrestling associations, and it aims at securing unity of action for the well-being of professional sport, the encouragement, promotion and control of professional sport, and the fostering of public patronage of all controlled sports. Hubert Opperman, crack Victorian cyclist, had a brilliant win in the 40 kilometre teams race at the Melbourne motordrome recently, when, because of the fact that his team mate, S. Greenhall, was unable to ride on account of an injured arm, he rode alone over 125 miles and won easily. He won every sprint, and proved himself to be better than any two men on the track. Jack Ballantine and Bob Cornell were second, with Bill Shade and Norm. Dickson third. “Oppy” cut out the distance in Ihr smin 17sec.
