IRISH FREE STATE

ELECTIONS IN PROGRESS. (Rec. 8.20 p.m.) London, June 9. Polling in the Irish Free State is taking place to-day. There are 375 candidates for 152 seats. The election is being hotly contested. The Daily Telegraph’s Dublin correspondent states that the Government Party expects to be returned with a gain of five seats. The return of Mr Blythe, Minister of Finance is doubtful. The Labour Party will probably return stronger, and de Valera’s party considerably weaker. —A. and N.Z.
