SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held on Monday, June 6. The chairman, Mr B. Brookes, presided, and the following members were in attend-ance--Mesd am es Ludke and McCulloch; Messrs A. A. C. Lion, R. Muldrew’, C. J. Nicholas and T. Ward. The headmaster reported a roll number of 141; average attendance 121, percentage 86.7. It was decided to hold a working bee on the school grounds on June 15. It was agreed that an account be opened in the Post Office Savings Bank and that the chairman and secretary operate thereon. W’ith reference to the District High School, the secretary was authorised to communicate with the various schools in the district and arrange a date for a deputation from Tuatapere School Committee to be received. It was decided that the Education Board be advised that the Wallace County Council had offered to pay half the cost of filling up the deviation on the road line in front of the school. Accounts amounting to £4 6/9 were passed for payment. After some discussion it was decided to hold the arrangements for provision of a septic tank at the school over to next meeting. EUCHRE TOURNEY. The fortnightly euchre tourney in aid of the Hollyburn Hockey Club funds was well attended on Tuesday evening, fifty players taking part. The prizes were won by Mrs Henderson (salad service presented by Mrs Breen), and Mr George Brockett (bronze ash tray presented by Miss D. McKerchar). Mrs Henderson won nine and Mr Brockett eight out of ten games. The consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs Payne and Mr H. Diack. Second place points were secured by Mrs Duncan, Mrs Westcombe, Messrs B. Weavers and T. O’Donnell. HOCKEY MATCH. —Hollyburn 3 v. Otautau I. The Otautau team met the Hollyburn players on the Domain, Tuatapere, on Wednesday. The game was evenly contested, though Hollyburn had only ten players. Two goals were scored in the first half for the home team, and one added in second spell, during which Otautau netted their goal. Mr T. Horner was referee. The goals were scored by the Otautau centre forward and Miss D. McKerchar 2, Mrs Stoneman 1.
