INVERCARGILL CLUB. STROKE HANDICAP AT OTATARA. A large field set out to play the first match of the above club’s current season, a stroke handicap, at Otatara on Saturday. The conditions were ideal from a golfer’s point of view and it was not surprising that a number of good cards were returned. In the senior division the winner was six strokes ahead of the competitors tying for second place, but the juniors had a keen struggle, only one stroke separating the winner and runner-up, with the third competitor two strokes further away. THE SCORES. The scores were as follow:

LAING SHIELD MATCH. A match for the Laing Shield will be played at Otatara on Wednesday afternoon between the Riverton Club (challengers) and the Invercargill Club (holders). Following are the teams, the names of the Riverton players being mentioned first: — Banks plays Russell; Rouse plays Camm; Jordan plays Wish; Berndtson plays Mitchel; McKinnon plays Doig; Willett plays Tomlinson. QUEEN’S PARK LADIES’ CLUB. A bogey match, commencing at 1 p.m., will be played to-day. The draw is as follows—Mrs Chartres v. Miss M. Pilcher; Mrs Clow v. Miss M. Stout; Miss Hughes v. Mrs Smith; Mrs Scott v. Miss McCallum; Mrs Palmer v. Mrs Weir; Mrs Longuet v. Miss J. Gilkison: Mrs MacFarlane v. Mrs Nicholson; Mrs Fordyce v. Miss A. Hanan; Miss D. Stout v. Mrs Stalker; Mrs Colley v. Mrs Rodgers; Mrs Tait v. Mrs McCallum; Mrs Wilson v. Mrs Pope; Mrs Ritchie v. Mrs Collins; Mrs Mitlar v. Miss Roscoe.
