CHICAGO GRAIN MARKET
STATE REGULATION ISSUE. New York, May 6. A Chicago message states that there is a marked decline in the volume of trading. This is attributed to the activity of the State Legislature on the question of drastic regulation of the Chicago grain market. A Bill establishing a regulatory commission to supervise trading with dictatorial con, trol over dealings in grain futures was pass, ed by the State Senate, and now goes to the Lower House of Assembly. This State regulation agitation was brought about by the failure of the Marketing Corporation and subsequent investigation regarding the Armour Grain Company. The opponents of the movement claim that the enforcement of the proposed law would drive the Board of Trade out of the State. Experts predict that trading will be erratic, until the situation is altered.
