SANDERS CUP
MEASUREMENT OF BOATS. MASTER MOULDS RECOMMENDED. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, May 6. The measurement of new boats in the future for the Sanders Cup contests was discussed by the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association. The Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Association wrote expressing its disapproval of the proposal to appoint a Dominion measure and asked that steps should be taken so as to ensure that all new boats would be eligible to compete in future contests. The chairman, Mr Johnston, said he agreed. The appointment of a Dominion measurer was out of the question on account of the expense. Mr Moller said there was a great deal of dissatisfaction in the South last year over the measuring of a certain boat which had been given a certificate under extraordinary circumstances. In view of this some attempt should be made to have boats measured under a system that would satisfy all concerned. The chairman said the use of master moulds would get over the difficulty, but they were very costly to make and transport from place to place. The meeting decided to suggest to the Dominion Conference the advisability of considering the purchase of master moulds for measuring new Sanders Cup contestants.
