INDUSTRIAL MISSION AUSTRALIAN INVESTIGATIONS IN AMERICA ITINERARY DISPUTE SETTLED (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) New York, May 5. An animated meeting of the Australian Industrial Mission at Holyoake (Massachusetts) discussed the itinerary. The difficulties were intensified owing to inspections members individually desire to make and Mr Ludowici’s determination to return by the Tahiti on June 15. Messrs Guy and Grayndler also urged an early return, Mr Grayndler being prepared to remain an extra fortnight provided all members returned on the same date. It is understood Mr Guy was prepared to waive objections although by remaining he loses nomination for the South Melbourne municipal election. Other members insisted that an extra month was necessary. Eventually the mission agreed on the itinerary providing a week in New York, afterwards going to Worcester, Boston, Providence and Philadelphia and arriving at Washington on May 24 for preparation of the report. Mr Ludowici leaves on June 10 to catch the Tahiti. The balance of the itinerary will be considered at Washington. The mission is now inspecting industries at Holyoake and Springfield before returning to New York. Features of the tour of New England have been the apparent freedom of industries from labour restrictions and the prosperity of the cities. An official record shows that strikes and lockouts in the State of Connecticut are few, only six thousand men having been involved in two years.—A. and N.Z.
