ALTERATION IN SYSTEM SOUGHT. POLL TO BE TAKEN. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, April 6. Recently a deputation waited on the Mayor of the city and presented him with a petition signed by 4450 ratepayers asking that a poll be taken to affirm or reject the principle that all city rates be levied on the basis of unimproved values. As more than the required 15 per cent, of ratepayers signed the requisition, the Mayor has acceeded to the request and the poll is announced to take place on the 27th inst, the date of the municipal elections.
