Mr A. A. Mac Gibbon (Gore), a member of the Southland Electric Power Board, has decided to seek re-election as representative of the combined local bodies in the NorthEastern District on the board.
The death is reported of Mrs Agnes Johnston, of Romahapa. She belonged to the Shields family, who came to Otago by the Blundell, one of “the four first ships,” and lived in the Clutha district nearly all her life.
Cable advice has been received from London that Mr. George A. Troup, president of the British and Foreign Bible Society in New Zealand, has been appointed a vice-president of the parent society in its Empire-wide organisation, states a Wellington Press Association message.
The Rev. G. E. Moreton has resigned his position as chaplain and organiser to the Anglican Memorial Home for Boys at Anderson’s Bay. At the express wish of the committee Mr Moreton consented to continue in office until the end of April. During the eight years that Mr Moreton has occupied the position he has done good work, and the committee exceedingly regrets the severance of his active connection with the home. Mr P. L. Cabot has been appointed collector for the home, and will commence his duties on May 1.
