LUCKY

SAVED FROM FLOODED SEWER. London, March 4. A sudden rainstorm, Hooding the lowlevel sewers, swept a labourer, Robert Churchyard, who was working beneath Fleet street, in the direction of the underground River Fleet, which enters the Thames at Blackfriars. Police boats circled the mouth of the Fleet, the officers being ready to dive to the man's assistance. In the meantime, manholes were opened, and Churchyard was discovered, buffeted but alive, wedged in the masonry beneath Ludgate Circus.—Sun Special.
