W.C.T.U.
MEETING OF GORE BRANCH. Mrs E. C. Smith (president) occupied the chair at the ordinary meeting of the Gore W.C.T.U. held in the Baptist Church on iuesday. It was decided that members’ subscriptions be sought between now and the April meeting, as the number of financial memoers tins year is, up to the present date, smaller than was hoped for. The Band of Hope work was fully discussed, and it was decided to urge that each Sunday school in turn provide the programme and a speaker for the meetings, the urst of which was fixed for April. it was also decided to hold a garden party at the grounds of th Preesbyterian manse next Wednesday, when it is hoped all members and friends will be present. Mrs E. C. Smith was appointed the branch’s delegate to the Dominion conference to be held at Auckland next month. Frances Willard Day is to be observed at the March meeting, and the hope was expressed that the occasion would be marked by generous gifts of money or agrments in aid of the Willard Home at Palmerston North..
