BODY FOUND IN GUMFIELD. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, December 3. The decomposed body of a man was found to-day in an old gumfield about four miles beyond Milford between the East Coast road and Albany. A receipt with the name “Hewitt,” dated July 24 last, was found in the clothing. Auckland, December 4. Later details show that beside the body of the man found near Milford there was a double-barrelled twelve-bore gun of Belgian make. One barrel had been discharged and the other contained a cartridge, the trigger being at full cock. The man’s head was badly mutilated. MOTOR FATALITY. Christchurch, December 4. At the inquest into the death of a married man, Charles Nelson, aged 60 years, tho Coroner returned a verdict that Nelson died as the result of injuries received in a collision with a motor car driven by Arthur H. Murray in Victoria street on November 24 last. BODY FOUND NEAR DUNEDIN. Dunedin, December 3. The trunk of a body dressed in a bathing costume w*«s discovered on the rocks near Lawyer’s this afternoon. The remains are to be those of Henry Stephen Baker, who was drowned whilst bathing at Tomahawk on November 7.
