MONEY MISSING

QUANTITY OF WINE ALSO GONE. RESIDENCE BROKEN INTO. (Per United Press Association.) Marton, December 3. Early yesterday evening the residence of Mr J. B. Gaisford, the well-known racehorse owner, situated on the main road near Bulls, was broken into and £2O in money, a quantity of wine and also a small quantity of clothing was stolen. A suspicious person was seen near the house earlier and when warning was given to the owner it was found that the thief had disappeared, leaving behind a ragged blue overcoat. Entrance had been obtained through a bedroom window. A search along the Paraeanui Road revealed a broken bottle, indicating that the thief had indulged in the wine. A few hours later it was found that the residence of Mr W. J. Ellery, about two miles away, had also been entered while the occupants were milking and a sum of £4 taken. A close watch is being kept on all roads in the district.
