FOUND SHOT. (Per United Press Association.) Carterton, November 1. A rabbiter of Hikurangi, Toby Qerk, aged 40, who has been away from his station on holiday, returned on Wednesday. His manner was queer and he disappeared on Saturday. He was found yesterday in a creek at the back of the cowshed with a bullet wound in his head. BODY FOUND IN CREEK. H awera, N ovember 1. A gruesome discovery, which is believed to elucidate the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a Maori, Tommy Tumanoa, aged 17, who had been missing from his home near Hawera for approximately two months, was made when a body answering the description was retrieved from a swampy creek on a farm adjoining the property on which the boy lived with his parents. The body gave evidence of immersion for a considerable time. LEFT INJURED BY MOTORIST. Gisborne, November 1. A young man named Colin Campbell was found on the roadside with a broken leg, having been knocked down by one of two racing motorists who failed to stop after the accident. GASHED BY RAZOR. Gisborne, November 1. Thomas Wood, recently from Auckland, was admitted to the hospital to-day suffering from a severe gash on the wrist, said to have been inflicted by a razor. COMMERCIAL TRAVELLER’S DEATH. Blenheim, November 1. A man name Alexander Mac Lean, aged 54, a commercial traveller, representative of Royd Bros, and Kirk, merchants, Christchurch, committed suicide by cutting his throat with a razor this morning in a bedroom of the Terminus Hotel at Picton. He arrived at Picton from Blenheim on Saturday evening and went with a fishing party to the Sounds on Sunday, returning in his usual normal spirits. During the night he complained of feeling unwell and received some whisky from the licensee which was not used. A chambermaid found the body this morning in a pool of blood with a razor alongside. He wrote four letters on Sunday and addressed and st amped them. None gave any indication of the act. The Coroner returned a verdict of suicide. There was no evidence to show his state of mind when the act was committed.
