KETCH STRANDED

NOT EXTENSIVELY DAMAGED. AN UNLUCKY CAREER, (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, November 2. The small wooden ketch Kiatea was stranded on a reef off Browns Island in the Hauraki Gulf last night when en route from Coromandel to Auckland with a cargo of shingle. A representative of the owners visited the vessel this afternoon and reported that she was no extensively damaged. The cargo was being jettisoned and the Harbour Board fire float had been engaged to pump out the water. It was hoped to tow her to Auckland to-night. The Kiatea, which is a vessel of twenty tons carrying a crew of three, has had an unlucky career, being badly damaged in November, 1924, through an explosion of benzine.
