HEALTH REPORTS

THE OCTOBER BULLETIN. SOUTHLAND’S GRATIFYING POSTHON. The October report of the Government Health Officer, Mr E. Sinclair, reveals a very gratifying position as far as Southland is concerned, only four scarlet fever notifications being received. Mr Sinclair remarked that in view of the fact that Kai tangat ais having a diphtheria scare at the present time Southland’s clean sheet was all the more gratifying. Mr Sinclair added that as far as diphtheria was concerned, there had been no notifications in the the town proper since June, while it was necessary to go back as far as April to find any report of this disease in the country districts. The same could be said of scarlet fever in the urban areas.
