OTAGO SCULLERS THE MELBOURNE REGATTA LOCAL CBEW OUTCLASSED (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. 5.5 pm.) Melbourne, October 31. The regatta was rowed in the face of a strong head wind. In the four-oared race, first heat, Otago beat Melbourne University. There were only two starters. Otago led all the way, pulling up with 50 yards to spare. Time, 6min lusecs. In the final Otago beat Hawthorn (Victoria). Again there were only two starters, and Otago once more led all the way, winning easily by four lengths. In the two-oared race final Otago repeated their previous performances, leading from start to finish and winning easily by five lengths from Hawthorn (Victoria). The visiting New Zealand crews outclassed the opposition on each occasion and scored popular victories.—A. and N.Z.
