BIG BLAZE

FIRE AT DUNEDIN BOX FACTORY GUTTED ORIGIN OF OUTBREAK UNKNOWN (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, October 29. Between 2.30 and 4 o’clock this morning fire completely destroyed the cardboard box factory of the Phoenix Company, confectioners, MacLaggan street. The stock and plant were entirely gone. The flames did not penetrate the main works on one side, nor Speight’s brewery and garage on the other side. > The insurances total £56,000, and the building and contents destroyed represent about one-fourth of this amount. The origin of the fire is unknown. Within the last two years the cardboard box factory was practically re-built and equipped with new plant for making confectionery boxes and also boxes in general use throughout the Dominion. All this plant has gone to cinders. ,
