MINISTERIAL. A London cable states that the Rt. Hon. J. G. and Mrs Coates were the guests of Earl Jellicoe at the Isle of Wight. Mr. Dan Reese is returning to Christchurch by the express this morning. Mr. J. T. Martin, of Messrs Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., arrived in Gore by Thursday night’s express. Mr. E. Howlison, of Messrs Cooke, Howlison and Co., Dunedin, was a passenger to by the express yesterday. Captain P. J. Foster, marine superintendent for the Union Steam Ship Company, arrived in Dunedin on Thursday evening from Wellington. Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P., who has been on an extended visit abroad, is e’xpected to return to Wellington towards the end of next month. Sir Heaton and Lady Rhodes are passengers by the Ulimaroa, which sailed from Sydney for Auckland yesterday, states a cable message. Mr E. Keast leaves by the north express this morning for the purpose of attending the biennial Typographical Conference in Wellington. Mr Andrew Woods, of Baklutha, arrived by the express from the north yesterday in charge of the Baklutha School Band. Mr Woods is a well known bandmaster in Southland and is also an enthusiastic bowler. The Dunstan Times states that Mr. L. G. Townsend, the well-known footballer, who is at present teaching at the Chatto Creek School, near Alexandra, has been appointed to a position at the Orawia School in Southland. Word has been received by cable that Dr. Oscar Moeller, of the Otago Medical School, and late house surgeon of Christchurch Hospital, who is at present pursuing his medical studies in London, has been successful in gaining the M.R.C.P., England. Three prominent civil servants in Auckland will retire on superannuation as from Sunday. They are Mr. W. S. Fisher, Official Assignee, Mr A. V. Sturtevant, District Lands Registrar and Mr W. G. Fletcher, Deputy Commissioner of Stamps Duties. Mr. W. Johnston, of Napier, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Sturtevant and Mr. H. B. Walton, of Auckland, of the Stamps Office, to succeed Mr Fletcher. Mr Fisher’s successor is not yet available. —Press Association.
