ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
BODY FOUND IN HARBOUR. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, October 25. The body of an elderly woman was found floating in the Manukau Harbour this morning, about five miles from Onehunga. by an old man and his wife who were out in a flat-bottomed boat. They secured the body by a fishing line and informed the police. When the police arrived upon the scene it was full tide and the body could not be seen. It is thought that the fishing line was not long enough to allow the body to float upon the surface. A further search will be made at low tide this evening. A woman’s coat, hat and bag were found this morning on the Mangere Bridge. MOTOR FATALITY. Auckland, October 25. A motor car fatality occurred on the Grafton Road at half-past four this afternoon. A demonstration car, driven by Kenneth Mynott, a motor salesman, aged 25, crashed into a telegraph pole. Mynott sustained severe head injuries and died before admission to the hospital. J. Taine, the only other occupant of the car, was cut in the face by flying glass and suffered severely from shock. The car was wrecked. Mynott was married, with one child. MOTOR ACCIDENTS. Wellington, October 25. Several motor car accidents are reported from the country but no eMails are available except that between Wellington and Levin a number of cars went off the road. There were no fatalities or injuries to the persons reported from this particular quarter. Lionel Cloke, a motor mechanic, residing at Trentham was walking with Miss Grace Munro, near Upper Hutt, when they were struck down by a motor car. They were sent to the hospital. His condition is serious, a fractured leg and severe injuries to his head. The girl is suffering from shock.
