Feng Yu-Hsiang, known as the “Christ-* ian General,” in a manifesto published at Pekin defines his position He praises Sun Yat-Sen as having been a leader of revolutions, and pledges himself to emulate him. He states, “While imperalistic powers arc strangling our national life by unequal treaties, Russia has voluntarily cancelled hers. Should we refrain from entertaining warm and friendly feelings towards the Soviet or should we entry favour with those who look upon us as slaves? The Soviets have undertaken the task of liberating weak and exploited races. We need not fear that they will do anything endangering our interests.”
He denounces foreign settlements and declares he returned from abroad to overthrow Imperialists.—A. and N.Z.
