ENGLAND IN DIFFICULT POSITION. London, October 24. The Daily News explains that the International Board’s decision prevents the English playing the Welsh unless the off side rule is dropped. The decision will be enforced after the Maoris’ Welsh matches have ended. If the Welsh Union adheres to the rules a split is inevitable. Another complication is that the international rules allow more than three players in the front row of the scrum, which the English rules prohibit. The International Rugby Board’s Committee resolved to play all matches under International Board rules from November 13.
