STUNT RIDING
MOTOR CYCLIST IN COURT. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, October 15. Motor cyclists who indulge m the practice of stunting by driving without their hands on the handle bars, allowing the machine to steer itself by balance, are liable to prosecution under the by-law which prohibits this practice as dangerous. A warning prosecution was brought in the Magistrate’s Court to-day before Mr H. A. Young, S.M., when Arnold Hadfield pleaded not guilty. A constable who took defendant’s number said tha4 he was riding along High street buttoning up his gloves but even when this operation was completed defendant did not resume control of his handlebars. This prosecution was brought as a warning to potential offenders. It applied also to riders of bicycles. p As the case was the first brought under this section of the by-laws the. Magistrate convicted Hadfield and ordered him to pay costs only.
