JUNIOR TENNIS

ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Southland Junior Tennis Association was held at the Girls’ High School on Tuesday, there being present—Miss White (chair), Misses Mclndoe (Technical College), Wilson (St. John’s), and Mr Butchers (Boys’ High School). After the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet the election of officers was held and resulted as follows: President—Mr C. A. Stewart. Vice-Presidents —Miss R. White and Mr Butchers. Secretary and Treasurer—Miss C. Cumming. It was decided to hold matches On Saturday mornings commencing if possible on October 23, entries to be sent in as soon as possible. The secretary was authorised to make the draw and arrange for events. It was suggested that an effort be made to secure trophies for competition in these matches. In regard to the annual tournament it was resolved that this be held early in the first term next year, and the committee was instructed to make the necessary arrangements. Miss White stated that there were two cups for competition in the tournament, for the girls’ and boys’ singles. The cups were donated by the association and will be suitably inscribed.
