HEAVY DEFICIT
QUEENSLAND STATE ENTERPRISE. Brisbane, October 14. The annual report of the Commissioner of State Enterprises discloses a heavy deficit in respect of the operations of the State enterprises. The loss during the past financial year was £152,545. The profitmaking State enterprises were:—Butchers’ shops, £565; produce agency, £1521; railway refreshment rooms, £152,256; hotels, £3939; fish supply marts, £473; and cannery, £287. The report states that the heavy deficit incurred by the State stations, together with the payment of £lO,OOO out of the profits of refreshment rooms to the consolidated revenue, is responsible for the conversion of a credit balance of £107,542 on June 30, 1925, into a debit at June 30 last of £32,959.—A. and N.Z.
