THE LOST TEN TRIBES FOUND.

To the Editor. Sir,—l am glad to recognise in “Bible Student” one who even in this sceptical age has yet faith enough to believe all that the prophets have spoken concerning Israel. It is a simple faith and implies not only a belief in God as the Great Architect of the universe and Father of us all, but is the faith of one who believes God in all that He has said He would do concerning Israel through the inspired writings of the Old Testament. Professor J. Agar Beet, D.D. (late principal of Richmond College) said, “The literal meaning of the Scripture is the whole foundation of faith. For God to give promises which He foresaw that He could not fulfil would be deliberate falsehood, and this we cannot conceive.” It is but to be expected that the promulgation of British Israel truth will meet with considerable oppostion; it has done so in the past and will continue to do so until the mists of misconception that have hitherto enshrouded the antecedents of Britain are dissipated and she stands revealed in the world as the living witness to and vindicator of God’s truth and of the continuity of His purpose through the ages. Sir Oliver Lodge, F.R.S., says: “We are a chosen people. It were blasphemy to deny our birthright and responsibility. Our destiny in the world is no small one. We are peopling great tracts of the earth and carrying thither our language and our customs. The migration of that primitive tribe from Ur of the Chaldees under the leadership of that splendid old chief, Abram, into the Land of Promise was an event fraught with stupendous results for the human race. And are we not migrating to the ends of the earth now, and increasing and multiplying in the promised lands, towards which the tide of civilisation is slowly but surely setting in?” Dean Abbadie (one of the greatest scholars of Europe of his day, 1657-1727) said, “Unless the ten tribes have flown into the air or have plunged into the centres of the earth they must be sought for in the British Isles.” I notice the writer “P” seeking to discredit the advancements of “BibleL Student” accuses him of endeavouring to resuscitate a corpse. Let me assure him that British Israel Truth is not a decadent belief based upon error but has continued to thrive since its birth about 90 years or so ago until to-day it has established a platform in the Old Country upon which a goodly number of the greatest leaders of our race in the religious and political world and a great number of those who have achieved eminence in the professions are meeting and carrying on the work incidental to the spreading of this great truth. Lord Beac%isfield must have had some light when he said, “History will recognise 4he destiny of the British race, but history will never record its decline or fall. History will say, “This is the great, the understanding people.’ ” Then let me quote Bishop Samuel Thornton, D.D.: “British Israel Truth is most wonderful; I wish I had known it 25 years earlier. It makes clear so many things that have been obscure.” Archbishop Bond (Montreal) : “I strongly advise a study of the Scripture prophecies upon British Israel lines.” Admiral Lord Fisher: “I have been a British Israelite all my life and cannot understand any Englishman being otherwise.” The Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, P.C. (late Premier of New Zealand) : “British Israel truth is God’s truth. It is therefore bound to win. It is winning now 7 all along the line.” Now r although I could go on quoting indefinitely, yet I have not advanced any of the foregoing pronouncements as proofs of the validity of “Bible Student’s” contention (since he is on a surer foundation) they are to be regarded merely as an indication that he is in good company. The truths he is presenting to your readers are only to be discerned by those who have sufficient faith to believe God and hold to the infallibility of His Word. Any controversy with those not on that platform will be futile. In consideration of your space which you have so generously accorded in this discussion I will not enter the lists, being merely desirous of indicating to “Bible Student” that he has an appreciative audience who wish him success. I am, etc., SAXON.
