Interesting figures regarding the efforts of the Government in repatriating the returned soldier were given by Sir George Hunter, M.P., when addressing a meeting of returned men in Waipukurau. He said that the number of men assisted to take up land was 9506, to erect houses 4420, to purchase houses 7535, placed in employment. 28,668, trained in new occupations 7538, financially assisted into business, trades, etc ? 26,902, making a grand total of 84,569 assisted.
