COUNCIL CONTRACTS
WRIT AGAINST SYDNEY CORPORATION ATTORNEY-GENERAL’S ACTION. Sydney, August 3. The Federal Attorney-General (Mr J. G. Latham) has issued out of the High Court a writ against the Sydney City Council and the Commonwealth Shipping Board to restrain the council from giving certain contracts to the Slipping Board and to restrain the board from accepting the contracts. The most important aspect of the matter from the citizens’ viewpoint is the investigation by the highest tribunal in Australia into the circumstances under which two of the most important contrasts, involving £765,438 for the equipment of the new power-house, were decided by a majority in the City CounciL
