In the House of Commons, Mr Hadengrest asked whether at the Imperial Conference there would be any investigation into the land available for settlement in the different dominions. Mr Baldwin said he was unable to answer the question. Mr J. S. Wardlaw-Milne asked whether the date of the Conference, October 5, was likely to be altered in consequence of any of the conditions existing in any of the dominions. Mr Baldwin said he was unable to answer that question at present. Mr E. Thurtle asked if the powers of Governor-Generals in relation to the dissolution of the dominions’ Parliaments would be discussed.

Mr Baldwin replied that he had not had notice that that subject would be discussed. Mr Rennie-Smith asked whether the Commoner and the general public would be able to attend the Conference. Mr Baldwin said he had not considered that. It had never been done yet. Mr Baldwin added that the chief economic questions on the agenda paper were: 1. Overseas settlement.

2. Geuerai review of inter-imperial trade of the present and future, including a discussion of the work of the Imperial Economic Committee and the position of the Empire Marketing Board. 3. Communications, including the work of the Imperial Shipping Committee and the question of the commercial air services.

4. Research. 5. Exhibition of Empire films within the Empire. 6. Question of securing an agreement on the liability of State enterprises to taxation.—A. and N.Z.
