OTOMATIC SERVICE PROPRIETARY. E. BOWERMAN MOTOR BUS COMPANY, Pyrmont. Dear Sirs, — We have much pleasure in testifying to the performance of “OTOMATIC” treatment in the tubes of our large De Dion Motor Bus (which seats 30 passengers). This bus has been employed on week-end trips to the Blue Mountains for the past six months and has seen service over some VERY ROUGH metal strewn roads. We have had no lost time through punctures and when on occasions we have picked up nails, etc., on drawing same the puncture has immediately sealed and we have proceeded as if nothing has happened and have not had subsequently to change tubes or tyres. The original tyres have of course, been retreaded and the tubes changed into them and are still in first-class order. We can STRONGLY RECOMMEND the treatment to anyone wanting to avoid the annoying troubles of ordinary pneumatic tubes and tyres to save the time lost by road repairs. Yours truly, E. BOWERMAN MOTOR BUS CO. (Signed) J. C. Bowerman. Manager. For particulars apply Manager, Box 225, nvercargill, or c/o Watts and Grieve, Esk Street.—Advt.
By using a new rapid hardening cement workmen, employed at the new Waterloo bridge, London, on a job below high-water mark, were able to beat the tide. The run-way for the big middle span had to rest on a low-lying buttress, and, in order to give this a flat top, the engineers decided to grout it with cement. The work was carried out at low tide, and the grouting was found to be quite hard, by the time the water reached it on the flood.
