SATURDAY’S GAMES. SECOND GRADE. I.C.C. DEFEAT SOUTHERN. In the first Saturday Junior match of the season, I.C.C. defeated Southern on the Bigger street grounds by 48 runs. The display given by both teams was very poor, the only bright feature of the game being a fine innings by E. Lee of the I.C.C. team, who made 82 out of a total of 139 runs. The other double figure scoreres were Robson 17, Trail and Frampton 12 each. For Southern Cavanagh took 4 wickets, McMillan 3 and McFadyen 3. Southern batted next and were all out for 91 the last man being bowled two minutes before time was up. McFadyen was the only man to stand up to the fast bowling and made a well earned 38, Extras 21 was the only other double figure scorer. For I.C.C. TraiU took 5 wickets for 32 runs C. Agnew 3 for 29 I and D. Agnew 1 for 25. Appleby won from Marist Old Boys by default. THIRD GRADE. Appleby, 122 (Thomson 46) defeated High School, 27, by 95 runs on the first innings. DUNEDIN GAMES. FIRST MATCHES OF SEASON. (Per United Press Association.) DUNEDIN, October 25. Cricket matches began yesterday. Grange compiled 238 (GaUand 100, Knight 87) against Albion, who have made 13 without the loss of a wicket. Dunedin have scored 175 for 8 wickets (Casey 66 not out) against Carisbrook. NEW ZEALAND TEAM. PATRICK NOT AVAILABLE. CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. It is definitely stated that W. R. Patrick, who was selected to captain the New Zealand touring team will not travel to Australia with the team as he is unable to make the necessary arrangements. It will be necessary for the selection committee to hold another meeting before another captain can be chosen. BOYS’ GAMES. CHRISTCHURCH V. WELLINGTON. CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. The Canterbury Boys’ Association, batting against the Wellington Boys’ League, made 188 (F. O’Brien 62, C. Welsh 56, D. N. Stokes 20, J. Nutt 19, W. McLachlan 16). Bilby took 6 for 45 and Cummings 4 for 17 for Wellington, who have lost no wickets for 9 runs. The match will be resumed to-morrow. CHRISTCHURCH GAMES. GRADE MATCHES CONTINUED. CHRISTCHURCH, October 25. The grade cricket matches were continued yesterday. For St Alban’s against Sydenham, C. J. Crawford made 64 not out, and F. Woods, 50. For East Christchurch against Linwood, J. McEwin compiled 57, and G. R. Gregory 43. R. Read got four wickets for 60, and G. W. Russel four for 30. For Riccarton against West Christchurch, C. E. Evans knocked up 53, and C. E. Guiney 36. J. L. Findlay got four wickets for 21«
