The Coal Tribunal has made a new award for miners throughout the Commonwealth. They refused the demand for a minimum wage of £5 10/- weekly, and rejected the claim for a reduction of working hours. They awarded an increase of 1/6 daily to miners in receipt of the present daily minimum rate. THE INTERNATIONAL MOVEMENT. SYDNEY, October 24. The Coal Miners’ Federal Council Conference decided in favour of linking with the International Miners’ organisation, of which Frank Hodges, British M.P., is president, with a view to securing international action should circumstances require it.
