IRISH CLUB

DINNER IN LONDON. DUKE OF YORK PRESENT. (Reuter’s Telegrams.) LONDON, July 7. A notable gathering of Irishmen of all political creeds from the North and South were present at a House dinner party given by the Irish Club in London, at which the principal guest was the Duke of York. Other guests included the GovernorGeneral (Mr T. M. Healy), a representative of President Coegrave, the Earl of Mayo, Sir Robert Lynn and a number of prominent non-Irish citizens. The Duke of York, who was warmly welcomed, made a speech dwelling on distinctions won by living Irishmen in various spheres. Mr T. M. Healy, in a speech, said the turmoil and distress which used to prevail in the South of Ireland had so wrung the heart of his Majesty that it was through him an approach towards a truce was possible. % The Earl of Mayo extended a hearty invitation to the Duke and Duchess of York to visit Ireland, assuring them of the sincerest welcome.
