MASTER PAINTERS
ANNUAL CONFERENCE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 12. At the Master Painters’ Conference, it was decided that the permanent headquarters of the Federation be fixed at Christchurch, and a permanent Secretary appointed by incoming executive. Delegates considered that this course would ensure a continuity of policy which was impossible under existing conditions. The Conference resolved that as the stringency of the scaffolding regulations had reduced the possibility of accidents to a minimum, and as there were practically no claims for accidents to painters, that the underwriters be approached with the object of getting premiums substantially reduced. A pleasant little interlude took place in the presentation of very handsome gold medallions to five past presidents of the Federation, the gentlemen in question being, Messrs D. Lee (Christchurch), T. A. Wells, W, Niccol and G. Capes (Wellington) and P. T. Birch (Auckland).
