METHODISM

CENTRAL CHURCH. The quarterly meeting of the Central Methodist circuit was held on Thursday last, when the Rev. Angus Mcßean presided over a good attendance of officials. The membership returns showed a slight increase over the preceding quarter, a few members having been received from other districts. The balance-sheet was considered satisfactory, and enabled the meeting to make additional grants to Foreign Missions, the South Island Methodist Orphanage and other funds. During the past year the Circuit contributed about £BO to the Home Mission Fund, and a similar amount to Foreign Missions. Messrs P. A. Pearce and T. L. James, B. Com were re-elected Circuit stewards, and were heartily thanked for their past services.

Mr T. L. James was appointed to represent the Circuit at the annual Conference, to open in Wellington on February 26. Mr D. J. Wesney was appointed substitute representative.
