EXPLORATION WORK

THE ST. GEORGE’S EXPEDITION. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, January 20. (Received January 21, 11.5 p.m.) The Daily Telegraph, commenting on the appeal for funds on behalf of the Saint George’s expedition, says that £9,000 is little enough to ask of Britain and Southern Dominions for exploration of an area of such interest and importance. The expedition has already done great work of high scientific value but the Pacific still offers baffling riddles. The Scientific Expeditionary Research Association is appealing for £9OOO, without which the St. George Expedition will have to curtail its itinerary, excluding the Easter, Austral and Cook Islands.
