HUGE TOBACCO PROFITS

(Received January 22, 1 a.m.) A sensational rise in profits from tobacco is disclosed by the announcement that the total dividend of the Imperial Tobacco Co. in 1924 was 22 | per cent., requiring £7,500,000 for payment. The sum of £500,000 has been placed to the reserve, £250,000 to the pension fund and £500,000 carried forward. The share bonuses since 1916 has amounted to 183 l-3rd per cent., totalling £13,000,000, being a free gift of capital which is also participating in tax free dividend.
