The morning News expresses the opinion that victory either in the cricket test match or against the All Blacks, is most improbable. . The Star says that, after the trial, it is clear that England’s fifteen will suffer a double-figure defeat at the hands of the New Zealanders. MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER. HOPES FOR AN UNBROKEN RECORD. WELLINGTON, December 24. The Prime Minister this morning sent the following cable to the manager of the All Blacks: —“Warmest New Zealand Christmas good wishes to all the members of the team. May the New Year see them triumphant, with the record still unbroken.
