A THEATRICAL SHIP

PLAYERS ON BOARD THE MARAMA. /Special to the Times). WELLINGTON, December 23. “I don’t think I have ever seen so many people connected with the stage on the ship as there were on the Marama,” said Mr Seymour Hicks, the well-known actor, when he landed from that steamer this morning. The list was a rather remarkable one, as it included the members of the WardFuller Companies, entirely new to New Zealand, and the J. C. Williamson Dramatic Company, headed by Miss Muriel Starr and Mr Frank Harvey. Of the Ward-Fuller Companies, the first of the combined management’s enterprises to come this way are “The O’Brien Girl” Company, which is to open at His Majesty’s Theatre, Wellington, on Friday evening, and the English Comedy Company, headed by Miss Ellaline Terries and Mr Seymour Hicks which will commence a New Zealand tour at Dunedin on Boxing night. All the ladies were of one opinion—that it was the jolliest trip they had ever experienced, as smooth as a mill pond all the way, and everyone imbued with the graciousness of Christmas time. Among the members of. the Seymour Hicks Company are Miss Phyllis Fuller (daughter of Mr John Fuller) and Miss Mione Stewart (daughter of Mr Richard Stewart, the well-known Williamson manager). Miss Fuller made her first appearance on the stage a few months ago, and is already playing responsible parts.
