STATEMENT BY THE MINISTER. (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, December 23. Hon. J. G. Coates (Minister of Railways) arrived here to-night from Te Kuiti and left later for Marton en route to Wellington. “I cannot confirm it,” said Mr Coates, when his attention was drawn to the report that Mr E. Fay, son of Sir Sam Fay, the Railway Commissioner, is to take control of the operations branch of the railways. Mr Coates hinted of the possibility of .one of the visiting railwaymen coming to stay in the Dominion for about three, months, and another one for a longer period, but he could not say anything definite. The Minister will issue a statement on railway matters in a few days.
